OK, BOOMER

Definition: Pejorative Expressing contempt or disapproval. Since when did “Boomer” become a pejorative? Lately the phrase “OK, Boomer” is dropped with a smirk and accompanying eye roll. It seems to lump all 75 million of us into one big category that looks a lot like a Trump rally in Kansas. PROM IS A 4-LETTER WORD

Well, it is that time of year again, Prom time. For most of us prom is a niggling memory of unmet expectations and feelings of inadequacy. We either went to “The Prom” and were sorely disappointed or didn’t go to “The Prom” and continue to fight the feeling that we were somehow lacking in what it takes to be successful in life. OLD AND IN THE WAY

That was the bumper sticker that caught my eye on the way out of Starbucks earlier this week. First, I was taken aback, then kind of smiled, immediately thinking of it as a statement on slow driving. Sheltering in Place

I have read a couple of books lately about a concept called “sheltering” or “settling” in place. To some extent it is like building a 1950s bomb shelter, but not exactly. It presupposes a major meltdown of the economy or natural disaster that will require people to be self-sufficient, but also be prepared to reach out and assist those who are without resources, for the survival of all.
